I would like to express our thanks from all the members of the Board of Directors, to the responsible government actors and especially to the Minister of Finance Mr. Euclid Tsakalotos and the Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Giorgos Chouliarakis for their decision to return the sector to the 13% VAT rate.

The decision of July 2015 for the inclusion of elderly care units in the 24% had resulted in a minimal or zero increase in state revenues, but at the same time a sharp increase in delinquency and illegal structures. It is known that most of this increase was absorbed by businesses, with a dangerous effect on their balance sheets.

The successful conclusion of this effort fills us with satisfaction because we really tried very hard, with countless letters to the competent bodies in Greece and the EU, presentations to politicians and party committees, publications, press releases, TV and radio broadcasts to raise awareness of the common opinion journalists and authorities. All of these may have been big expectations, but finally after 1.5 years we succeeded because we were basically right.

I include the successful conclusion of this effort among the great successes of this Association, of a similar scope to the changes in the legislation, the struggle in labor and so many others that convince even the most indifferent to the public, the necessity of having a body that represents the interests of the owners and managers of elderly care units such as our Association PEMFI.

Happy holidays and soon after we will gather for the next steps that our Association needs to take.

With kind regards
For the Board of Directors

The President

Stelios Prosalikas
